This Eadem Balm Is the Highlight of My Extensive Lip Care Routine (2)

Having naturally dry lips like I do isn’t for the faint of heart—I probably haven’t left the house without a lip balm in my possession for the past 15 years (not at all an exaggeration). The wind and cold this time of year can make them even more chapped, and a standard lip balm on its own won’t get the job done. I try tons of products to keep my lips in tip-top shape, and I’ve nailed down my routine to a particular science for soft, hydrated lips all year long.

Lately, the star of the show has been Eadem’s Le Chouchou Lip Balm, which has been receiving well-deserved praise on social media. Here’s why I love it and how I incorporate it into my lip care routine—plus everything I do to keep my lips looking and feeling good.

The Le Chouchou balm is well-loved by me (and many others) for multiple reasons. I love the thick consistency that instantly hydrates without feeling goopy or making my lips stick together. It comes with a slanted metal applicator that distributes the product evenly, providing a cooling effect that soothes my irritated lips. The formula also includes shea and acai butter to nourish the lips, peptides to reduce fine lines, and lactic acid to gently exfoliate for a soft, smooth pout. The glossy, high-shine finish and fruity smell are just the cherries on top. It’s become my go-to lip product that’s always in my bag, and I love that the formula brings comfort to my dry lips while adding a pop of color.

My Lip Care Routine

The Eadem balm isn’t the only product I use to keep chapping and flaking at bay. Keep reading to see how I incorporate it into my multistep lip care routine.

Step 1: Exfoliate

As with any hydration routine, the key to prepping your skin for proper moisture is exfoliation. This will eliminate any rough skin that can accumulate on your lips throughout the day, and my balms absorb better if my lips are properly exfoliated. I keep it pretty simple, gently brushing my lips with my toothbrush to remove the dead skin or using a lip scrub like fresh sugar lip polish. After rinsing, my lips feel soft and smooth to the touch.

Step 2: Hydrate

My first hydrating step is a basic lip balm that comes in a stick form instead of a liquid or gel formula. It might sound weird or unnecessary—but hear me out. I find that applying a firmer balm before any liquid products keeps my lips more hydrated over time and reduces the need for multiple reapplications throughout the day. I’ve also noticed that I don’t get that annoying white residue in the corner of my lips after using multiple lip products when I do this step first. My holy grail lip balm for this is the Vaseline All-Over Body Balm—I never leave the house without it.

Step 3: Color

Here’s where I apply a moisturizing lip color, with the Eadem balm being my product of choice. It comes in five gorgeous shades—including various berry and nude options. My go-to is Fig Sauce, a rosy brown.

Step 4: Mask

After a long day of applying and reapplying, I always use a lip mask before bed to seal in moisture and protect my lips from the dry air in my apartment. I often apply multiple layers for max hydration, and I’m currently loving the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and the Omorovicza Perfecting Lip Balm. These are soothing and intensely hydrating, and my lips still feel well-moisturized upon waking.

Some Other Lip Care Favorites

Since my routine is so involved, I cycle through a good amount of lip products yearly. Here are a few of my other favorites, including my go-to lip oil and another tinted lip balm I love.
